UTS Journalism covers the 2013 Sydney Writers’ Festival with ‘At the Festival’

To celebrate the return of the Sydney Writers’ Festival in 2013, the Graduate School of Journalism, UTS provided extensive coverage on the various events, author talks and highlights of the popular Australian literary festival in a publication called At the Festival.

From Mia Freedman speaking about vajazzling in Elizabeth Pickworth’s ‘Frazzled by the vajazzle‘, to a detailed overview of Waleed Aly’s lecture on free speech, power and vilification in Francesca Millena’s ‘Viewing the challenges to free speech‘, UTS undergraduate and postgraduate journalism and writing students’ work was all the buzz at the festival. Complimentary copies of the university publication were distributed from the picturesque Sydney Writers’ Festival main venue at Hickson Road, Millers Point, adjacent to The Rocks.

The Sydney Writers’ Festival was held from May 20-26 at Pier 4/5, Pier 2/3 and Sydney Theatre at Walsh Bay, along with several other venues around the city, in suburban Sydney and regional NSW.

Alongside the WordPress site, which showcases all the students’ daily reports, features and festival profiles (and was co-created by yours truly!), the Facebook and Twitter sites were also instigators in creating conversation.
