Get Love/Wonderstruck – Aim your arrow in time for Valentine’s Day!

Just wanted to give the Aussies a heads-up in time for the super-exciting (girls) or super-dreaded (guys) V-day.

Lately I have been obsessed with Vera Wang‘s new creation for the olfactory senses, Lovestruck, aimed (ha! Geddit?) at young women who have surpassed their Princess phase but aren’t yet ready for Wang’s bridal-appropriate scents.

Lovestruck by Vera Wang

Lovestruck is a sparkling floral fragrance of a modern Juliet. It opens with notes of exotic and juicy pink guava and soothing angelica blossom. The middle notes “bloom” with tones of intoxicating and sensual tuberose with aquatic lotus flower. Precious woody notes and sheer musk form a solid perfume base. – Fragrantica

With Leighton Meester as the face of the fragrance and a modern Romeo and Juliet-esque advertising campaign (not to mention that amazing bouquet of plastic red roses sitting pretty atop the bottle!) I was, erm, lovestruck by the whole thing. I discovered the new creation in an advertisement in Seventeen magazine around two months ago, and immediately searched for it online to find that it in fact had already been out for a while… just nobody in Australia knew about it (a slight downside of being geographically isolated from the rest of the world).

So, I excitedly got ready for this new perfume. I already knew I’d buy it without trying it (to date, I still haven’t tried it). Preparing myself, I watched YouTube videos about it. The instore promotions with Vera and Leighton, the advert, the 30-second behind-the-scenes shoot. Then came the bad news… “sadly this fragrance will not be arriving on Australian shores.” I (metaphorically) fell out of my chair. WHAAATTTTTT?? No. No. No. It can’t be. Immediately, I searched eBay for a sample vial. I figured if I liked it I could then just buy the bottle online.

Well, ladies and gents, I’m glad to say there’s no need anymore because… LOVESTRUCK IS COMING TO AUSTRALIA!!! In time for Valentine’s Day, no less!

Bag your bottle this Thursday, February 9 at Terry White Chemists, Myer, David Jones, The Perfume Connection and selected pharmacies. If you refuse to leave the house, then order directly at My Beauty Spot.

P.S. Boys, send your crush a romantic virtual love note on their favourite website (I recommend courtesy of Vera Wang Lovestruck. She’ll love you forever.

P.P.S. If you’re still into Lovestruck‘s younger sister, Princess, Terry White is selling it for just $35/50ml.

P.P.P.S. There is also another fragrance in the Princess range, Princess Night, “released to the world market” last month.

Princess Night by Vera Wang

Princess Night is Princess‘s glamorous nocturnal sister. The top oozes with wild berries, watermelon and raspberry. The composition’s core is formed of jasmine petals, spiced orange blossom and a touch of passionate rose, while the intensively sweet base features crushed sugar, vanilla and musk. – Fragrantica

As always, I love the bottle! Unfortunately, no word yet about when it’s coming to Australia… judging by how long it took Lovestruck to hit Aussie shores, I’m not expecting this one anytime soon. I’ll keep you updated. But you can still grab a sample or bottle on eBay in the meantime…

Feeling Wonderstruck, rather than Lovestruck? T-Swift’s perfume has been out for several months now. I’m only promoting it because I absolutely adore it with a capital A.

Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift

Wonderstruck is a charming gourmand – floral with sparkling fruity tones on a wooden background. The top notes are raspberry, dewberry, green tea, freesia and apple blossom. The heart features sweet vanilla along with sundrenched honeysuckle and white hibiscus. Notes of golden amber, musk, sandalwood and peach are in the base. – Fragrantica

The name ‘Wonderstruck’ comes from a line of Taylor’s epic song, Enchanted: ‘I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home’, about “the first time you meet someone.” I’m not kidding when I say that song is epic. It’s my third most played song on iTunes and third favourite song of all time. Anyway, the word ‘wonderstruck’ actually came to be when she had an innocent(?) e-mail relationship with Owl City’s Adam Young. Aww, bless.

“A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you, and it’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories,” Taylor said of the perfume. It doesn’t disappoint. It smells exactly what *fireworks* and *magic* would be like if it were encased in a sparkly purple snow globe-like bottle. Perfect for a first date, school dance, pick-me-up for a night on the town (or curled up at home!) and NYE!

Recommended places to try and buy: I received mine as a Chrissy pressie last year from Myer and got a bonus hobo bag and gorgeous keepsake box since it was bought early. These are now out of supply (and rare!), so I recommend Priceline – buy the 100ml for $89 and grab a free 10ml rollerball for your handbag, or Terry White – receive a free fashion clutch with the 100ml (also $89). Both super-rare finds.

I hope you’ve found this blog useful! Wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day, whether you’re all loved up or single and ready to mingle!

P.S. Die-hard Lovestruck fans, race you to Myer on Thursday! I’ll bring my running shoes…
